School Food and Wellness Group Launches Podcast: 'Cafeteria Confessions' – Serving Up Stories from Lunchrooms Nationwide

School Food and Wellness Group is excited to announce the launch of Cafeteria Confessions, a new podcast hosted by Emily Chatelain, Founder and CEO of School Food and Wellness Group. This unique podcast dives into the world of school food, exploring the innovative efforts happening across the country to provide students with nutritious, high-quality meals.

In Cafeteria Confessions, listeners are invited on a journey across 10 schools, from New York to New Orleans to Los Angeles and in between, showcasing the creativity and dedication of school leaders and food service teams working to enhance their school nutrition programs. Each episode brings listeners directly into the cafeteria, sharing real-life challenges and triumphs in serving healthy meals – even in schools that lack kitchens or face constraints like limited staffing, tight budgets, or a lack of local food vendors.

“Our mission is to help schools build sustainable, high-quality meal programs that serve nutritious meals every day,” says Emily Chatelain. “Through Cafeteria Confessions, we’re able to amplify the voices of those who are doing extraordinary things in school cafeterias, often overcoming significant obstacles to make sure students have access to healthy food.”

What makes Cafeteria Confessions truly special is its honest, behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create impactful changes in school cafeterias. Emily interviews not only school administrators and staff, but also the most important voices in the lunchroom: the students. Their candid opinions reveal what matters to them in a school meal, from the excitement of seeing a favorite dish to the importance of presentation and variety.

Each episode offers:

  • Authentic Stories: Insightful conversations with school leaders and food service teams who share their journeys, the lessons they’ve learned, and their ongoing efforts to improve.

  • Student Perspectives: Engaging moments with students themselves, shedding light on what a third grader values in a meal versus what an eighth grader hopes for each day.

  • Actionable Inspiration: Tips, advice, and ideas for advocates and professionals in education, nutrition, and community health, sparking meaningful changes in school meal programs.

Whether you’re in the education or nutrition industry, a parent, or someone passionate about health and well-being, Cafeteria Confessions has something to offer. Each story is designed to inspire listeners to make a difference in their own communities, support healthy meal initiatives, and ensure that every child has access to nutritious food.

Tune in to Cafeteria Confessions on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pod.co, or wherever you listen to podcasts and join us as we celebrate the incredible work being done in school cafeterias across the country.
