About the Guest

Kris De la Torre is the first Managing Director of Cultivate Collective, a community based organization dedicated to leading innovative, community-driven initiatives that address equity, environmental sustainability, and systemic change. She leverages over 15 years of experience in food systems and as the Director of Sustainability, Wellness, and School Food at the Academy for Global Citizenship (AGC) to create scalable models that leverage the role of anchor institutions like public schools and community centers to strengthen environmental initiatives to combat the effects of climate change, support sustainable regional food systems, and promote lifelong learning. 


Throughout her career, she has worked at the intersection of food, education, and environmental justice, advocating for equitable access to healthy, minimally processed foods and place based stewardship in both rural and urban settings. She is committed to building collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders—ranging from local communities and schools to federal agencies and advocacy groups—to implement sustainable practices that benefit both people and the planet.


Her work is rooted in her Mexican heritage and a belief in collective responsibility as a global citizen. She is passionate about fostering solutions that reflect the cultural, economic, and ecological needs of underrepresented communities while amplifying the voices of young activists, women and visionary change makers.
